Auto Injuries

Auto accidents are known to cause a variety of injuries that may not be readily apparent directly after the collision. These injuries can include sprains and strains, herniated discs and whiplash. Hamlin Chiropractic provides auto accident injury treatments for individuals who have recently or not so recently been in a collision. Anyone involved in an accident, whether they are experiencing pain or not, is recommended to have a full spinal examination to determine if any injury is present and being hidden by the body. Collisions at even 15 mph can have damaging effects to the spine. In Florida, the injured person(s) has 14 days to see a medical provider to be able to use their insurance for the injuries.

What is Whiplash

Whiplash is an injury in which your head and neck and thrown in one direction and then forcefully pulled into the opposite direction, whether it is front to back or side to side. This movement can injure the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the spine resulting in pain, discomfort, and loss of normal daily function. Some patients may feel pain immediately after the accident and others it could take weeks before any pain begins. That is why at Hamlin Chiropractic, we perform a thorough musculoskeletal examination to determine if an injury has occurred and then a specific treatment plan is recommended to begin the process of recovering from the injury. person(s) has 14 days to see a medical provider to be able to use their insurance for the injuries.

How Can Hamlin Chiropractic Help?

Dr. Justin has been treating car accident injuries for 15 years and understands the diagnosis is the most important step in beginning any treatment plan. We utilize Digital X-Ray Software to determine the quantity of injury sustained so a specific treatment program can be designed for each patient to get the best results in the fastest amount of time. The DXD Software is an objective examination used by the AMA (American Medical association) to determine the extent of injury. Specific chiropractic adjustments are usually applied to the injured segments to restore function and motion to the joints. In addition, manual massage and therapeutic exercises are performed to reduce inflammation to the muscles, tendons, and ligaments allowing the tissues to heal to their pre-injury position. Other forms of treatment include spinal decompression for patients who have suffered a disc injury to help relieve the pressure on exiting nerves.

Case Study

A 19 Year old patient presented to the office after being involved in a motor vehicle accident where she was rear ended while stopped at a traffic light. She visited the local urgent care clinic and had x-rays performed and was referred to Dr. Justin. Her cervical spine x-rays revealed significant injury to the ligaments of her spine resulting from the whiplash injury. But by the time she started treatment with Dr. Justin her neck pain had resolved. Without these specific x-rays, which only 2% of offices use the DXD software, her neck injury would not have been documented and therefore she would receive no compensation for her injury. The x-rays are not a pain test as this case demonstrates. They are the standard of care in determining if ligament laxity has occurred from a trauma. Dr. Justin works with attorneys to educate them about these results so they have the best information of the injuries sustained from the patient/client.
